Studio 16a was honoured to be a part of the restoration of Parkgate, Wirral, a notable modernist building from the 1960s designed by J Roy Parker. A complete survey and client meeting were recently conducted in order to redefine spatial adjacencies and improve the functionality and aesthetics of the residence. The client's concept included maximising natural light, increasing usable space, and improving the connection to the outdoors.
Prioritising the preservation of the original design elements, such as the floor to ceiling glass and slotted joists, was crucial as we set off on this exciting journey. Our methodical approach sought to honour this iconic residence's architectural legacy while gracefully choreographing spatial elements to create a harmonious interplay between interior and exterior spaces.
