16A were commissioned to undertake an assessment of the existing 1.5 storey house that sits within the greenbelt and a stones throw from the Dee Estuary. 16A skilfully maximised the amount of floorspace that the family house could gain within the Green Belt Policy. The layout evolved to introduce a new exhilarating double height glazed entrance link between the existing footprint and the proposed side wing, that would create a sun lit front courtyard space that the family could entertain during summer nights. The link between the front courtyard and the rear garden is seamless and new ideas separating the function of the outdoor space were formed. The conceptual arrangement for the first floor bedrooms would maximise the connection between the woodland to the east and the expansive views of the dee estuary to the west. The house is to be wrapped in black larch and is to be named the 'Black House'.
